What type of research experience do I need?

No research experience is required for SRI! Our goal is to democratize access to research and help you hone your research skills.

I am international; can I still apply?

Yes! We welcome students from all backgrounds.

How many students will be accepted?

Roughly 70!

What fields of research does SRI provide exposure to?

We primarily focus on hard sciences/life science research for our students. This includes (but is not limited to) biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computational biology, bioinformatics, and other related fields.

What fields do SRI mentors specialize in?

This is not an exhaustive list, but we have mentors in various subfields across physical and natural sciences. Our mentors primarily specialize in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, and psychology, as well as in specific subfields like synthetic biology, neuroscience, and genetics.

How old do I have to be to apply?

SRI will accept applicants enrolled in any high school program across the world (that is, grades 9-12).

What's the time commitment?

Do I get to select my own research project, or will I join an existing project by the mentor?

Absolutely! You and your mentor will team up to choose a research project that sparks your interest and taps into your mentor’s expertise. It’s all about finding the perfect match that gets you both excited!
